Cet ensemble exceptionnel de masque à gaz canadien de la Seconde Guerre mondiale est attribué au soldat Arthur Roger Griffiths, vétéran décoré et personnalité bien connue de la région de Stittsville, en Ontario. Grâce à sa plaque nominative originale toujours fixée au masque, l’identification est directe et incontestable, ajoutant une importante valeur historique et de collection à l’ensemble.
Le masque est un modèle Respirator Light Anti-Gas Mk IV/Mk V de fabrication canadienne, doté de sa façade en toile beige, de ses oculaires cerclés de métal, de sa soupape vocale métallique et de son tuyau souple raccordé à un imposant filtre rouge-brun estampillé GSW (General Steel Wares, Toronto), daté du 22 décembre 1941.
Une plaque nominative d’origine est toujours présente sur le tuyau et porte l'inscription :

L’ensemble comprend également son sac de transport en toile identifié, plusieurs accessoires de protection chimique ainsi que des pièces rarement conservées ensemble depuis la guerre.

Arthur Roger Griffiths a servi durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale et fut décoré de la Canadian Volunteer Service Medal ainsi que de la War Medal 1939–1945. Après la guerre, il est devenu conseiller municipal à Stittsville et a également occupé la présidence de la Légion royale canadienne, faisant de cet ensemble un remarquable témoignage relié à un vétéran identifié ayant joué un rôle actif dans sa communauté.
État
Très bon état général pour un ensemble de plus de 80 ans. Le masque demeure souple et complet, le tuyau est en excellent état et les accessoires sont bien conservés. Certains emballages de papier présentent des déchirures mineures dues à l'âge. L'intérieur de la boîte d'onguent anti-gaz montre des traces de corrosion, mais l'ensemble conserve une très belle présentation.
Un ensemble rare, complet et identifié, représentant le matériel de protection individuelle utilisé par les soldats canadiens durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale.

Identified Canadian Gas Mask Set – Arthur Roger Griffiths – Second World War (1941–1942)
This exceptional and complete Canadian Second World War gas mask set is attributed to Arthur Roger Griffiths, a decorated veteran and well-known public figure from Stittsville, Ontario. The original identification tag remains attached to the mask, providing direct and unquestionable provenance that significantly enhances the historical and collectible value of the set.
The mask is a Canadian-made Respirator Light Anti-Gas Mk IV/Mk V, featuring its original beige canvas facepiece, metal-rimmed eyepieces, metal voice diaphragm, and flexible hose connected to a large red-brown filter manufactured by GSW (General Steel Wares, Toronto) and dated December 22, 1941.

Arthur Roger Griffiths served during the Second World War and was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the War Medal 1939–1945. Following the war, he became a municipal councillor in Stittsville and later served as president of the Royal Canadian Legion, making this a remarkable identified veteran grouping connected to a respected member of his community.
Condition
Very good overall condition for an 80+ year old wartime set. The mask remains supple and complete, the hose is in excellent condition, and the accessories are well preserved. Some paper packaging shows minor age-related wear and tearing. The interior of the anti-gas ointment tin exhibits corrosion, though the exterior presentation remains very attractive.
