Médaille américaine originale World War II Victory Medal, instituée à la fin de la Seconde Guerre mondiale afin de reconnaître le service de tous les membres des forces armées américaines ayant servi entre le 7 décembre 1941 et le 31 décembre 1946.

L’avers présente la figure allégorique de la Liberté tenant les moitiés d’une épée brisée, symbole de la victoire sur les puissances de l’Axe, accompagnée de l’inscription “WORLD WAR II”. Le revers porte les inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA 1941–1945” entourant les célèbres principes des Four Freedoms du président Franklin D. Roosevelt : Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion, Freedom from Want et Freedom from Fear.

La médaille conserve son ruban d’origine aux couleurs caractéristiques rouge, blanc, bleu, jaune et vert. Créée pour commémorer la victoire alliée et la fin du conflit mondial, elle fut remise à plusieurs millions de militaires américains ayant contribué à l’effort de guerre.

Original United States World War II Victory Medal, instituted at the end of the Second World War to recognize service by members of the U.S. Armed Forces between December 7, 1941 and December 31, 1946.

The obverse features the allegorical figure of Liberty holding the halves of a broken sword, symbolizing victory over the Axis powers, with the inscription “WORLD WAR II.” The reverse bears the inscription “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA 1941–1945” surrounding President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s famous Four Freedoms: Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion, Freedom from Want, and Freedom from Fear.

The medal retains its original ribbon with its distinctive red, white, blue, yellow, and green colors. Issued to commemorate Allied victory and the end of the global conflict, it was awarded to millions of American servicemen and servicewomen who contributed to the war effort.
